Crowns

About Crowns

A crown covers the entire outer surface of a problem tooth, restoring it to its original size and improving its strength and appearance. Crowns are used when a tooth or teeth cannot be easily restored with a filling due to decay or cracks. Crowns are also placed on dental implants replacing missing teeth. Crowns can be made from metal alloys, porcelain or ceramic, composite resin, or a combination of these materials. A crown is usually fitted in two visits: the first to make a mold for the crown and install a temporary, the second to bond the permanent crown into place. We have been recently working with all zirconia crowns, commonly called “zeno crowns.” These crowns are made from zirconia and are milled by a high tech computer. This insures the most precise fit measured to the micron millimeter (opposed to traditional millimeter from hand milled crowns). It is also esthetically pleasing being all white with no metal. Zeno is also the strongest material out on the market today. So you can be assured that your crown will last that much longer.
